Adios Pre-Term…

PRE-TERM flew by unbelievably fast and helped build stamina for TERM 1. We finally got to experience the “dreaded” business school exams. Our pre-term final is history but there is no time to relax. Workload got bigger, with new group assignments, student club meetings, networking dinners, and cover letters preparation. Oh and I still need to find some time to go to the gym at some point!! Where to begin!!??

Fortunately, right when one begins to panic there come the fellow students that are in the exact same situation. Instead of running around like headless chickens, it’s probably better to work together and help each other they say. This spirit is what makes me feel so lucky and privileged to be working with my classmates.

Career week is just two weeks away. Top tier companies such as Barclays, Novartis, Accenture, and others, will be coming on campus to meet us. This is when internship fever will begin to rise, and while this means additional workload, I am very curious and excited.

This MBA experience has been surprising to say the least. What impact it has had on me so far? Prior to the MBA, I thought I was organized…. well now I know I was wrong :) Firstly, it taught me how important prioritizing and time management are. Secondly it further stressed the importance of relationships with my colleagues. I never thought I’d say this but yes, it has begun to change me as a person.

Right… I’d better get back to my “companies research”. Stay tuned!

Here we go…

It’s been already three weeks since the MBA’s kick-off and we have been bombarded with input since day one – 180 amazing individuals from all over the world, brought together to work, exchange ideas and of course, have fun! A total of 47 nationalities and 33 spoken languages, made obvious since the beginning that this was bound to be a powerful experience.

Lectures and assignments became hectic so fast. Professors’ high expectations further stressed the importance of working together with our workgroups in order to achieve the best possible results in a timely manner (and that going out 5 nights a week like we used to was incompatible with the MBA!).

My workgroup consists of a German, a Brazilian, an Italian/Spanish, a Greek/Italian, a Lebanese and a Taiwanese. I guess ESADE wasn’t using the word diversity just for marketing purposes! This academic experience is completely different from what I had experienced during my undergrad in Rome.

And now, just a week away from PRE-TERM’s end and the exams just around the corner the tension is rising….what to expect? I guess we will soon find out!

MBASA Networking Event

ESADE’s MBA Student Association (MBASA) organized another successful event! Last Friday after classes, students of 2010 and 2011 programs were invited to a networking cocktail taking place on ESADE’s beautiful terrace.

In addition all student clubs set up stands and gave information about their activity to those interested, while also offering us the possibility to join during the event.

Coming from business studies, and having an entrepreneurial background in marketing and promotion, the clubs I was interested in were mainly those of Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

The real highlight of the evening though, was the upcoming TECHNOLOGY CLUB!! One of my classmates decided to take the initiative and start this new club, further enriching ESADE with his network, passion and refreshing ideas. The number of people signing up was impressive! Dan, well done. Keep up the good work and I hope everything goes well with the rest of the logistics. Looking forward to our first club meeting!
